Finding the right axle -- SHO/SLO difference?

With all the discount codes Advance has been offering lately I usually try to buy from them. Plus it's a 10 min bike ride when my car's on blocks and I need a part

The only axle they're listing for my '99 is a new GSP, part number NCV11521.

In looking at GSP's catalog the ncv11521 is listed for the SLO.

Their SHO number is 11555.

I take it there are differences between the two?

There are. A SLO one should work but it may fail prematurely.

One side is the same as the G2 ATX IIRC.

Got the axle out w/o too much trouble.

A few items of note -

The new axle has a rubber seal on the hub end that the old axle did not have. My guess is not having that seal wasn't doing the bearing any good. So I've decided to replace the bearing as well.
I bought a Driveworks bearing for $50 (cheaper w/discount code). Comes w/a 1 yr warranty vs Moog @ $73 w/3 yr. Hope this DW isn't a POS.

The outer joint on the new shaft is REAL stiff. it takes some force to move. Inner is fairly loose.
The old axle is as loose on the outer as the inner.
I'm assuming that's typical of a new (reman) vs old CV axle.

I went with a reman'd master pro from o'reilly. From what I can tell mp axles are cardone. Limited lifetime - hope I don't have to replace these.

Unseating the old axle from the trans was relatively easy - easier than I expected. But reseating the new is not feeling very "firm". I hope the spring clip is still functional.

it's back together.

I was never able to convince myself I got the axle "snapped" back into place properly, although I felt like I was using excessive force. The instructions that came with the axle make it sound like it's extremely fragile.

After watching this, I'm thinking mine was seated right from the start.
