I traded my Blue 93 MTX for a 97 Gen 3 that has 105xxx miles and welded cams.. I didnt relize how different these cars really were.. These cars are very comfortable for the daily grind. What else besides the cam issue and the occasional tranny problem do I need to be aware of

There isnt really any other major problem that you need to worry about. Besides the LIM getting gunked up causing a failure of the secondary system, the gen 3 is a very solid ride.

Untimely alternator death (although I've yet to see an alternator that died in a timely manner), coil failures, and then just the typical Taurus bugs (a OE strut job will make you cry).

Congrats! :sun:

Get your suspension looked at and repair what is necessary. Otherwise you'll ruin your tires.

Take my word for it.

Thanks James I'll defintely keep you in mind... What can I do to make this closer to the performace of a well stock well tuned MTX? Does the third cat delete and cold air really help all that much?

Good tuning and shave about 400 lbs. from the car and you'll be in good shape. Third cat delete and CAI don't really do much except enhance the sound. In fact, the 14 second V8 cars did so with the stock airbox (minus the saxacone and with a little Porterization in Ron's case).

Thanks for the info... I am running a SCT X2 with a custom program on my 06 Stang, do they make one for the Taurus? That program really woke up my car. I am not wanting to get to carried away; since this is my daily driver..
