I finally had the time today to install the Livernois Windstorm tuner package that I purchased last month. First off my car is a 2015/PP with 2300 miles and when I took the stock plugs out i checked the gap and every plug was gaped at .o3o", I have read of older SHO's with plug gaps from the factory all over the place from - .035-.055" and I assumed it was a quality control problem that has now been remedied or i just got lucky. Anyway the hardest part of the install was putting the weather stripping on the CAI, so not bad at all.
I loaded the 91 octane tune cause I had just filled with 92 octane (93 is hard to find) and headed out for a test drive. After a few miles it was up to temp so I stopped and nailed the throttle and had to counter steer because the front tires lost traction and again when it shifted to second and my grin was ear to ear. My Son new where I was testing so he showed up with his 13 Charger RT awd with after market exhaust and a CAI. We lined up and this time because I had spun the tires earlier I just eased into the throttle for the first car length but I had already left him behind and the shift to second barked the front tires and at 100 I had 7 to 8 car Lengths on him. When we got back to my house my son was wondering how many thousands it is going to cost him to catch the SHO. I almost felt bad for him. Thanks Livernois!

I 2nd Rich... great story!

My son is only 12 so I have a little ways left to go... he's not into car's like me now but with our DNA matching so close... I'm sure he's going to come around sooner or later!?

I have a Ford standard (if Ford doesn't make it, I don't drive it) and that's help me save a lot of money since I've had 28 car's at age 43... not a brag, it was a big problem and at the rate I was going, I would never be able to retire!

My point is... my son knows this, so the little butt likes Chevrolet (I believe) on purpose... so I hope he shows up one day with a Camaro and I can do that to him! LOL

I really did have mixed feelings racing my son. My friends or strangers it feels great beating them, but I am responsible for my sons love of anything high performance. So I felt a little bad when I smoked him. But his car is no slouch and it fits his family's budget. And I know he's genuinely happy for me cause he braggs about my car to all his friends. As Dad's we want the best for our kids and we want them to do better than us at life. So some day when he goes flying by me I WILL BE A PROUD DAD.

Well said Mark and I completely agree with you on all your points. I know my son will do better then me (he's already better then me at video games) and like yourself... I'm ver proud of him and if any man was to beat me at anything, please lord allow that man to be my son!

Now... I use to let him win at video games and now he lets me! LOL

I enjoyed your story and feedback... Thanks for sharing,
David.

My plugs were all over the place. .028-.044, I also have a 15/PP

I bought stock replacements and gapped them myself.

What tool do you use to gap with, I have one of those little round silver dollar size disk. I've had that thing for 20 years now, just wondering if they have anything better now?

They have several tools now.
But I used something similar.

That is an awesome story, and glad to hear that you put that Hemi in its place!

Kinda crazy when you stop and think about the giant displacement disadvantage you are saddled with VS his Mopar. Sounds like santa might have to spring for a Livernois Charger tuner and EvenFlo thermostat! We do have some pretty beastly tuning for the Mopars as well! And it is a ton cheaper than having to spring for a Whipple kit! But we do have our own Whipple kit in case you were wondering ;-)

There was a Hemi club at one of my trips to the track.

I out ran everyone of them except the hellcat, and destroyed him off the line was dead even at the 1/8, and ultimately got blown away by the 1/4.

If you use the disk, you will almost certainly damage the new plugs. The iridium tip is very fragile. I use a small pair of angled needle-nosed pliers that could grip the ground strap without touching the electrode. You can use the disk to check the gap, just not to adjust it.

We have a "specially engineered" tool that our senior tech uses to gap all of our iridium plugs. Basically you want to push the backstrap down clear of any chance of the electrode being touched.

My understanding is that all the new iridium plugs need a special tool to gap. Using the silver disks can and will damage them, just use them to check the gap, not to set the gap.

I pick up one of these Snap On CF-71's on ebay a week ago hoping it would be iridium friendly. I haven't seen one since high school auto shop but they show up on ebay occasionally.
