Yes, yesterday was the day. My friend and I tore the intake apart, and holy shit was it dirty. It wasnt to bad getting everything disconnected etc, but it was super filthy. The end of the snakes especially, were caked with crap. We used B12, which is almost ungodly, and it took everything right off, unfortunatly it also took some of the intake paint off when alittle dripped down, oh well
there was very little oil in the plugs in the front bank, but the back was a different story. The middle/rear plug(#3?) was almost fully submerged, and the #5th plug was pretty bad, so we used compressed air to get it all out. After the intake was clean (as best we could get it) we went to work on the plugs. I couldnt believe it still had the orignal motorcraft ones in the back at 98k, because no one had ever changed those, the fronts had some crappy plugs in them. All were replaced with the right kind, motorcrafts,
wink Most of the casgets were shot, and I didnt think to order them in advance, but Im going to order them soon, and do it all again. So after 8 hours of working, including new front brakes, it sputtered to life. And after a problem with the secondaries being stuck open (it turned out we had overlooked a connection) it now runs super strong. It pulls alot harder, and runs smoother. Sorry for the long post, but it feels good to know your cars in pretty good shape. I absolutly recommend this to anyone who has a sho with alot of miles on it and the intake has never been cleaned.
