Wow guess its been a while, anyway I've been having an ongoing battle with my 93 ATX SHO and its brakes. I have put in a new master cylinder, new rubber hoses, new brake lines, new calipers, new slider pins and new rotors. Now the car stops great.....at first, the longer you drive it the more pressure needs to be applied. Now I know brakes can fade, but not to the degree the stopping power drops off. I mean at some points I have to drop the pedal all the way to the floor just to get the car to slow down from slow speeds. I used to have a problem with the brakes staying engaged (had a nice glowing rotor from that....yeah pretty scary) and then them not working at all, pedal would easily drop to the floor with no resistance, but that has seemingly been taken care of. Any ideas would be great, as I just had the 60k done (little late at 85k but better late than never) and a new tranny put in, sooo if I can get this fixed the car is in tip top shape. :thumb:

 WOW! you replaced your entire brake system?! Brake booster sounds like the problem to me.

Sounds to me like it jsut needs to be bled properly. Sounds like you have a lot of air in the system.

I agree with Chris. The more you use the brakes, the more they heat up. Trapped air will expand as it heats. That would explain the increased distance required to stop or slow.

thanks

I'll check the booster!

Also I too suspected that it may need to be bled, but I'm no good at that with this car it seems, and I have taken it to some shops and have had it done, none of them seem to be able to do it right? Is there a trick or something?

There really isn't a whole lot more it can be is there? heh

checking the bleeding is definitely a great idea. As for bleeding the brakes, the rear wheels have to be at ride height (can't jackstand off the subframe or pinch welds) or a valve will shut them off, preventing proper bleeding of the brakes. In regards to bleeding the ABS system as well, I'll let someone else fill you in on it.
