I'm looking to get back into an SHO after losing my '94 to a t-bone incident in 2011 and driving a 2010 SEL for a few years.

I'm looking at newer ones and I'm seeing 2016s with 70k+ miles up to 2019s with 10k-ish miles. Obviously newer with fewer miles is a good thing and what I'm planning to do, but in the interest of saving some significant dollars do I maybe want to consider going with a 2016 or 2017?

So my question to you is, what are the feature differences between a 2016/17/18/19? Assuming (LOL) they're all equally well maintained, what would I be missing out on if I don't go with a 19?

If anybody is interested, my SEL has 240,000 miles. The engine runs like it's brand new, and I just had my first major repair: Transmission rebuild. It was expensive, but I really can't complain about one repair in 10 trips around the earth. A decade after it rolled out of the factory, it's still a great car. So it has done a lot to build my brand loyalty.

You won't be missing out on anything in particular unless SYNC changed in that time period. Maybe a PP vs Non is something to think about. Really I would get the best example you can find. There are cooled seats and all that but the more options the more stuff to fix.

Nice, I'll keep that in mind. On autotrader.com there are no SHOs with the performance package available right now. I'm not in a rush to buy, though, so I can afford to wait a bit and see what comes along.

re: your signature, my late 94 SHO was emerald green. :D I really liked that car.

I saw a few SHO's on cargurus but I would not bet on finding a PP model. Some of the ones listed for sale do not correctly list whether it is PP or not. That's anecdotal as I saw a post of someone getting a used one and it turned out to be PP but the business seller did not indicate that it was.

That first link might be the clearest example of a car that took its bra off.

It looks like a clear flim they put on for transport. Seem the the sides and rear glass have it too.

Definitely, I'm searching out to 500 miles for now, but I may expand to unlimited.
I took a random zip in Albuquerque and searched out 1000 miles. When looking for PP SHO's look the Alcantara steering wheel in the photographs. Most dealerships have no idea what a PP SHO is, that is why they usually the same price as a Non-PP.

I bought my SHO in CA from a dealership who originally sold it to the 1st owner. She traded it in. They still didn't know it was a PP.

You gonna want more cowbell, and this means the PP, the Procrastination Package: lots of items to keep you idling for-almost-fackin-ever, a soft steering wheel for those oh so sensitive keyboard warrior hands to clutch like a Gucci bag, lower gears so you don't break the sound barrier wit yo bad self.

I fixed for you.

Keep in mind that not every dealership or car lot will check the box for Performance Package. When I was looking for mine I would consistently see PP cars, with the trademark alcantara steering wheel, labeled as regular SHO’s.

So is this the PP steering wheel?

As opposed to what? What does the non-PP SHO wheel look like?

Yes that is the PP. The non-PP is all black leather without any alcantara. Also, unless the previous owner changed them, the tires are high performance summer tires, not all seasons.

It's been either completely unchanged or de-contented in the last few years, so you are losing nothing by going to an older model feature wise.

For example, my 2015 has the massaging seats option. I know you can get them in 2016s as well, but I believe that feature went away in 2017. I think a 2016 will be the most loaded example you can get. 2015s still had Sync 2, but 2016s had the upgrade to Sync 3 and still offered the massaging seat option.

A loaded SHO should have the ACC, lane keeping, auto parking, etc. Nearly every SHO I see listed on CL says "loaded with all options" and maybe 10% have those options.

Cue the "I don't like those seats anyways" comments from 17+ owners below LOL...
