Ok seems like my Sho is treating me well this Christmas.. I went for a ride tonight after driving around for a little bit. I stood on it in first then shifted to second about 5 grand and then gave it a little in second then a CE light. Engine temp was at 190f. Volts at 14. I came right home pulled codes KOEO got a 114 and a 118 (ECT indicated -40degF. Circuit open.) witch would have set off the CE. Ok now what do I do I changed the temp sender last tuesady for the computer. Is this giving me my prob? Maybe its no good or one of the wires got broken during the install? And the 114? (Air Charge Temp sender out of self-test range.) Whats up with that? Something wrong with the temp sender in the filter box??
Thanks
Marcel

114 (O,R) IAT sensor out of range
118 (O,M) ECT sensor is/was high or open

Unless you cleared the error codes from before, the 118 may be left over from the earilier ECT failure or that you didn't get the connector on securely. To reset the codes, you need to install the test jumper, start the test and piull the jumper when the CE light is flashing the codes. The 114 shows that the ACT is not working properly and should be replaced.

The thing is about the 118 is that it gave me a check engine light. So I do think there is a problem there. But it worked right for over a week. I also changes the sensor due to the fact that I had a problem with my cooling fan not comming on at the proper temp, it did fix the problem, there were never any codes there before..

I drive a 1994 Taurus SHO with over 300,000 km (over 200,000 miles) and this car has been very good to me. A huge list of original parts still functioning come to mind. A few of which would be the fuel pump, water pump, CPS, alternator, starter, and if you can believe it, the clutch. I bought the car with 125,000 km (75,000 miles) and the car looked like it had been babied. I have owned the car for four years and have spent money on things like struts, brakes including upgrade which I love, tie rod ends, ball joints, all the things that are normal maintenance on an eight year old car. Having owned Volvo and Porsche and driven and worked on Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW etc. The Taurus SHO is pound for pound the most bang for the buck in the luxury sedan segment right now. With a little maintenance the engine is bullett proof and the car is reletively cheap to own and insure.

I got the 114 (ACT) code Christmas Eve. Also got an O2 sensor code which I attribute to the bad ACT and a Clutch Pedal Position sensor code, which I plan on ignoring. FWIW, the ACT is $45 at dealer.
