well i decided to put my rediator fan on a switch because it's not coming on at the right time. I'm just going to do this just to try it out. I just bought a headlight relay wiring kit but it didn't come with any directions. So now i'm stuck with a switch, relay, and 7 different wires. how do i hook this up right? If someone could draw me a diagram or something that'd be cool. It's going to the fan on the radiator and i want the switch right near the dash.

I put an adjustable switch that has a temp probe on my '97. $20 at Summit and easy to install in the upper radiator hose.

I used the ground wire of the fan relay on the PCM (EEC). No need for an extra relay as it is a low current cicuit. What it does is ground the OEM relay when you want it to. Grounding the relay, which is in the ICRM, is how your PCM (EEC) does it now.

All you need to do is tap (not splice) into the wire so you can apply the ground when you want to. This will work with your manual switch. No relay needed and only one wire. I don't have a '89 EEC pinout. On the '92 EEC it is a Tan and Orange wire that you tap into and ground.

Here is some install tips but it is for the Gen 3. The only difference is the wire you tap into though.

See page 2, circuit 137, Tan/Orange wire

The site is in Russian and is very slow, so be patient.

I usually download all the diagrams for each year and keep them on my hard drive for further use. They really come in handy.

BTW, another very recent thread about another car with the same problem indicated it was fixed with a new ECT sensor. If you haven't done so already, you might want to try one.
