Faint tick sound from the engine.

I've got another question hopin' someone could help me out with. When I start my SHO (it's a 90 MTX,) it does it's normal warmup, around 1100RPM or so, then drops into idle around 850-900 RPM. The oil light begins to flicker/come on, though not steadily. I've done a bit of reading, and it seems that generally the case for fixing that is getting the Rod Bearings replaced (which I've ordered because I'd rather not destroy this engine.) But what worries me most is this faint tapping sound coming from inside the engine, kinda like if you were to lightly tap your finger nail on a desk several times a second. I only hear it during idle, anything higher than that and it either goes away or becomes inaudible. It seems most noticeable from the front middle cylinder area and underneath that. I recorded a bit of it idling from each of the 6 cylinders, starting from front right to left, then rear left to right. Hopefully it isn't as serious as I'm thinking it is.

Also, after idling for a few minutes, the oil light hasn't come back on or flickered.

from what im hearing i can almost promise you its rod bearings.
also it sounds like one of your accessories are going bad the low pitch whinning noise, but it could be something else.
id say for the other sound check the water pump make sure its all good then the alt then the p/s but dont run or drive the car anymore till you get the bearings replaced for sure.
no need for the engine to be usless to you.

Cancel what I said from underneath it, put the car on jacks and it's harder to hear from beneath the car than from above. The most audible area (using a hollow tube with a point for listening since I don't have a stethascope) is still the front/top area. Bearings still to be replaced (when they arrive) but I'm curious if it could be something else.

my money is on it olny being the bearings. listen to what others put up for audio for the bearings being bad, yours sound exactly like it. i dont think there is anything else, replace and if there is still a sound then repost and see what happens

Although I don't know first hand what a Rod Knock sounds like, I've heard a clip of it, and what I'm hearing in your recording doesn't sound to far from it. Just to play it safe, I'd park the car, and install the bearings. A decision you won't regret.

Also I just dug up the clip of what a Rod Knock sounds like. Here it is ...... http://media.putfile.com/Rod-Knock-63. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm gonna call in work and tell them the situation, then just wait for the bearings to arrive and have them done. I love this car so far and I'd like to keep it for awhile D:

God...makes me glad mine doesn't sound as bad as those in the two clips yet. Tempted to drain the oil and put it through a filter or run a magnet through it to see if I can find any metal shavings.
Thanks for the support guys :D
