Well, I failed emmissions, just like I was expecting. Here are the results:

HC:
123.0 CT REQUIREMENT
-----
37.1 PASS

CO:
0.69 CT REQUIREMENT
-----
0.24 PASS

NO:
878.0 CT REQUIREMENT
-----

Does it look like the CATS are shot by this reading? Makes me wanna run down the dealer and get my Jetta alot sooner frown

Well, you can do several things:

Purchase a high flow Y pipe. New they are about $400-500. Look on the classified section, you may be able to find a used stock or performance Y pipe.

You can try to replace the cat, but the cost will be probably be similar as a new Y-pipe, especially if you buy from a muffler shop.

You can attempt to find someone who can "provide" you a sticker for a price. Difficult unless you are well-connected.

Better yet, if you know someone who could lend you a stock Y pipe (or even rent it from them) take it to the shop, get your sticker and be done.

You may wanna talk to the guys of New England SHO Specialists in Rhode Island. They may be able to assist your needs. www.neshospecialists.com

Good luck!!

Whatever I do, its gonna have to be cheap and bare-minimum. I really dont wanna spend one more cent on my SHO, ive spent enough. Since, CT is closing its Emissions stations to revamp, it is unknown when they will reopen (mostlikely next spring). So until then they are unable to give tickets for failures. So i am exempt from retests till they reopen. I am also given a month for a retest once they restart the system. So im guessing I probably will have a new car by then so I might not worry about it. Im really ****** at Ford Motor Company, so I really wanna get my new VW or Honda when the time is right. What ****** me off, is the car is more or less immaculate and the 86-88 Sable that had 195,000 miles and looked like ****, in front of me passed. Sorry for the rant but my once beloved SHO has become my biggest debt I am sick of having to pay on. When it was new it was fine, now with Ford discontinuing parts, it really blows and so does FOMOCO lately!
