I've heard that hot weather will do an old one in. (I just replaced one in December, so I should be safe for a little while.. I hope.. )

I vote for the CPS as the component of the month. :D Seems like half the posts on here this week have been that. Plus I have one that just started acting up...

I am planning on doing mine soon cause the damn check valve ain't workin. Also want to pull the sender and replace that as I have a screwy gauge 90% of the time. I think I'm gonna steal the slosh module out of my 95 SE and see if that might be the cause. Both the pump and sender were replaced at the dealer 4.5 years ago by the PO. Hopefully it won't die before I get to it.

I vote for both :D . I replaced my CPS a few days ago, and I am most likely going to be replacing my fuel pump this weekend.

Hmmm, in putting the 91 track car together this weekend, I've:

Broken a pinch bolt for the strut to knuckle
found 2 totally gone ball joints
found 1 gone tie rod end
found that I haven't found my 95 calipers
discovered that I hate hanging cat-backs on my back
discovered that what fit perfectly with the cat-back on my 89 doesn't want to fit so perfectly on the 91 (?)
discovered that even one beer when dehydrated gives you a headache the next morning

Broken part of the month: Toss up between...

FYI,
I have a buddy (ford mechanic) doing my fuel pump and sending unit as my gas guage is screwed and I am tired of driving by the trip odometer.. Well, when we went to order the ford part, we found that the 'whole unit' as in Fuel pump & sending unit as a pair from Ford are discontinued. We picked up one of the last 3 in dealer inventory.
I am only replacing the sending unit, which is the part that is actually discontinued....
The fuel pump is going to go into my other sho in which the fuel pump is really really loud...
I am tired of the whining noise.....
I vote for fuel pump... Though the part won't be in til middle of next week..

1 vote for fuel pump. Now I won't let the fuel go under 1/4 of a tank, being that the gas itself cools the pump off.. no more running til the lil fuel icon appears!

I vote for the fuel pump also. I replaced one 8 months ago. (Walbro aftermarket, 190 lph) Now I have to replace it again. (Under warranty, thankfully)

Update! My fuel pump is fine! Darn dealership mechanics are crooks or incompetent!

Hmm... I got the same pump from SHO Shop about 3.5 years ago... Mine's still kickin... Sorry about the bad luck. Actually, my original was still kicking, but the Ford technician thought the low fuel pressure was caused by a bad fuel pump, when actually, it was caused by a filter that had a bent output line attached to it. I'm talkin 90 degree bend. But hey, at least I don't have to worry about the fuel pump goin out.

Oh, by the way, my failed component of the month is the blend door motor for the A/C and heating system. THAT is one part that is bad on MANY SHO's, and nobody seems to want to replace. :D I found out that my blower control module was unplugged. Could be the problem, but who knows, I got tired of searching for the recepticle for it!
