factory cd player dislikes ejecting in warm temps

I've noticed the factory cd player will not open the door to eject the cd when ambient temps are higher, will make the sounds like it's trying but the door is closed and you can't stick a tool or another disc into the opening.

Wait till the ambient temp comes down, and it will eject just fine every time.

Any suggestions? Will not go aftermarket.

Did you try cleaning the contacts inside the CD player.

I will check this. It's a gen 1 style am/fm single disc unit out of an explorer or mark VII from the early 90's, so don't know if it's the same as a slave cd deck.

I had many Fords over the years and also many factory CD players. That happened to a few of mine and I never found a solution. Always ended up finding a nicer unit that wasn’t a victim of heat stroke.

I had this rebuilt a 5 years ago, along with another deck by a guy from the thunderbird super coupe forums, nice guy and did a great job. Just haven't been able to get a hold of him now. But it's hard to find anyone who will fix the stuff.

Not to rant, but have an really nice yamaha stereo system from the late 90's, same thing took it in to be looked at for a few bugs, nope, can't get parts, just toss it and get something new. Hate that. The new stuff never seems as good to me.

Most is not. Now you need to spend ‘high-end’ dollars to get the same quality that ‘mid-grade’ gave you years ago. The good thing is you can find well kept older audio stuff for relatively inexpensive prices. On a whim, more than once, I almost jumped on some super nice audio(Yamaha-Bose-etc) for cheap. Couldn’t believe how cheap ...
