Anyone have thoughts on purchasing the plan at the point of purchase? Loaded 2011 will be here any day and now and I'm still kicking the idea around. With all the features and many things (expensive things too) that could go wrong will go wrong... sometimes.

Does anyone have pricing for the different levels?

I just purchased one for my 2010. I got the best plan for 7 years 100,000 miles for $1650. ($100) deductable. (I think it's called Premium Care) They almost didnt' want to honor that pricing, but they did. I think it normally is around $1850 They also told me to expect a price increase around the November time frame....I didn't think that pricing was too bad...it's less than the option price for the Navigation alone...

Normally, I don't, but it wouldn't take too much to pay for itself on all of these integrated systems, not to mention the twin turbos. Another main reason is for resale--should I decide to sell it....$50 transfer fee and the next owner can feel secure.

My old 91 back in the day had the remainder of its 10 year 100000 mile warranty, and back then when my crank sensor started going out.. it was a really nice thing to have, considering no one really knew what to look for, because by the time it got to the dealer, it started just fine. :)

It was pretty nice, I got picked up 5 min after I called, and got a ride to the dealer where they gave me a loaner car while they figured out what the deal was.

And IIRC a crank sensor is an 8 hour job x how much an hour, plus the sensor... comes up to $1000 real quick. :) But then again, it shouldn't wear out that fast you would hope.. :)

I have not looked into it but, the dealer told me that you can purchase the extended warranty for up to 12 months after taking delivery for the same price. Then the different tiers go up incrementaly. This was last month from the salesman?

I think that is sort of true. You can't purchase the warranty after 12 months after delivery, but there are incremental price increases from time to time. There are three or four tiers, but to cover electronics and such you need the best plan.....

I purchased both the ESP and maintenance. Selected the 7yr/75000mile package for $1675 (ESP) and maintenance for $1200. I wanted the security. I got the $1500 incentive and recently got an email with another $750 csh back. I purchased my 2011 SHo under the X-plan. Best experience I ever had buying a car.

I think this is actually a good idea. I usually don't purchase extended service plans/warranties but this is a newer platform and I would want to be covered in this case if I could afford it.

I just sold my old car to get a SHO and it had a big 30 days left on an extended warranty I had bought. Nonetheless, the buyer was THRILLED to know there was some coverage in case the thing died right after he bought it. I don't know if he ever did anything, I just signed the transfer form and gave it to him with the repair records.

I also agree with the posts re: new SHO and so many computer things. I plan to get the extended warranty, I would go insane if either (1) the turbos blew or something and it was $$$$ to fix, or (2) probably more likely something I like but don't need (i.e. multi contour seat) breaks and I am left to either spend a grand fixing it or more likely decide its not worth fixing because I don't have the money at the time and then have to live with a car with cool features that do not all work. So short of it, I think the extended warranty is a good idea.

Objective note though: my last car (RSX) was definitely more bare bones in the interior dept. The extended warranty I had on it was 36 months, and in that time I used it a big one time on a $200 heating module repair. It cost like $1700, so.....

What dealer can we get the best pricing on an extended warrenty from ?

I bought an extended warrenty for my 2004 SSR from a GM dealer in Idaho & I live in Nebraska. I've used it twice in NE. , no problem , they have no idea where I bought the warrenty.

Me too, most on here think the money saved on the plan could be negotiated down anyway, which is probably right. But why play that game if you dont have too.

On a vehicle that has older technology and few gadgets, it's probably not worth getting. I got a 7 yr. on mine though. I would check into purchasing one online if you can get the same price. This way, you won't have to pay state tax. I didn't think the maintenance plan was worth it. If you look at the maintenance schedule, other than oil changes and cabin filter replacement, it's all check this, check that.

I am pretty sure the official online site has the best prices. When I bought my SHO I asked that dealer about the warranty and told them the price, the response was that they would and most any dealer would be that price plus $500 give or take. So skip the plus $500 and just buy it online. Note: It also appears Ford will basically finance the warranty interest free if you want to make monthly payments.
