Exhaust Mufflers/Tips

Hey! So from what I’ve read, our stock exhaust system is 2.25”, but I’ve also read 2.5”. I’m looking at getting some flowmaster 40s to weld on to the stock exhaust AND get some 4” outlet tips. Anyone recommend/know which size to go with? 2.25” inlet x 2.25” outlet muffler with 2.5” inlet x 4” outlet tips? What about length of tips, does that matter or will a shop make them flush with the bumper? Appreicate all the help!

Stock is 2.25, I'd step up to 2.5 minimum if you're gonna be running something restrictive like a flowmaster. When I didn't have the side exit I ran Borla and it sounded pretty good.

I have deleted resonators and mufflers. I tried both flowmaster (Super 10's) and magnaflow 11225. Both were ordered in 2.25. The flowmasters quieted the car down WAY more than I ever would have thought, but produced a STUPID amount of drone. I read some drama on the ecoboost forums about the restriction with flowmasters that paranoid me enough to take them off. Queue the magnaflow's, knowing I had a droning issue with the previous set I ordered some dynamat for the trunk and installed both at the same time. I went through a 250mi break in period with them and they sounded a lot better than the flowmasters after that period. Very throaty. I ended up missing my loud ass car and turbo sounds too much and had the magnaflows chopped off and im back to straight off the cats. I had a shop install black 4" tips and i love them. The dude that installed them ended up cocking them a bit to each side to look more flush with the way the bumper is shaped. I would be happy to go take a pic or two for you! (As far as your question on length of tips it really doesn't matter as long as they are shortish, don't get some massive 10"+ tip lol)
