Hi, I have a 1999 Ford Taurus Sho with dual exhaust and two mufflers. (Yamaha engine) and I want a new, loud exhaust. Right now, my exhaust is all stock. I decided on two Flowmaster Super 44s (I haven't ordered them yet), and i went to my local midas dealer and he said that the flowmasters might not sound too great, like a motorcyle engine. I am not sure if what he said is true though. Are there any other mufflers that sound better for the SHO, in comparison to the flowmaster super 44s? I am also unsure of what size I need and what in/out specs are neccesary for my exhaust system. Here is flowmaster's website on the super 44s: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/44_super.html
:thankyou:

i think the super 44's would sound great. Also you dont really have dual exhaust. I run my 98 without mufflers with test pipe welded in place and I love the way it sounds. The V8 SHO's have quite a bit of restriction in the exhaust so running with no mufflers is not even that loud.

This would be the one you want that will fit best:

2.25" Offset/Offset.

Does your installer know that you have a V8 under the hood? Why does he think that those mufflers will make it sound like a motorcycle? How many motorcycles have DOHC 32 valve V8s??

I think those will work very well. On a V8 SHO installing aftermarket mufflers don't make a very big difference in performance gain but they'll give you the nice V8 rumble.

SS would be better if road salt is a problem in the winter. Do you have to worry about that in the winter?

I guess I'd do SS just to be on the safe side, the stock mufflers are SS and they'd only be a few dollars more.
