First time I reply to my own post lol!
So, finally I will have a new custom exhaust system installed this Thursday... NOW, everything will be there for the 12's... If not, I don't know what to do anymore, because I won't go on Methanol with that car for sure!
Cheers!
Certainly a first again replying a second time to my own... Start to feel like a ******! lol!
I will go to the drag tonight... Again, not hte best conditions (risks of thunders, if not very humid, but not too hot for July (mid 70'S)). Let's see what happens with that new exhaust... certainly feels more powerful, at least it sounds! lol
Stay tuned!

Good luck tonight, Steve.......take the weather for what it is tho: not the best. Try to get some decent cooldown b4 your runs and don't forget to take out anything removable.

LOL, I must be just as schizoid -- I often reply to my own posts -- so you've got company..

Let us know later how you do.

Sooooo close!!!
I drove 35 minutes to get to the track and I said I would do one quick run and let it cool down with ice for an hour... I ran 13.03 at 108.56mph! I was very happy and told myself that was the night... after cool down, that is in the pocket for the 12's... But to my surprise, I had not realized but it was a Mustang and Ford night with a competion of E.T. brackets... My first time! And the guy said that the qualification for our best time was over in 10 minutes. So I did 2 more runs (no cool down) and ran 13.03 again and 13.06... Finally I started the competition and did 13.05 and 13.06!!! with only 10 minutes between runs... So I did 5 runs within .03 seconds each in 30 minutes. But on the third round, I red lighted ; ( So, it was not possible after that to do any more runs. That said, I know now that I have the car and setup to get into the 12's. My best 60ft. was 1.87, but on my 13.03 it was 1.897.
I had lots of fun and I think we have a car that is so consistent, that one that is able to have quick reaction time (I never practiced for that), is almost sure to win the prize... Tonight was 20$, we were 56 and the winner was given 1000$, not too bad. That would have bought me a lot of air loose with wifey lol!
Cheers all!

Man, so close!, and were it not for the heat and humidity you'd be in the 12's.... and consistency, wow, awesome.....that'll win some races too.

Considering the weather, it looks like your exhaust may have helped.

You've probably dialed it in already, but have you tried raising or lowering the tires pressures a few pounds?

On a better night you should be well into the 12's --keep at it.:thumb:

On the tires, I dunno if he's spinning or not, but if not, raise them up until they do, or until 55-60 #s, whichever comes first.

It was 70 degrees and humidity at 53%, not oto bad after all. Two factors beside weather can explain :
1 ) Warm engine
2 ) Too much fuel (third of a tank)
So, I went on drag times to calculate the equivalent with density etc. and I would have gotten my 12's :

Density Altitude:
1180 feet above sea level instead of the 204 feet.
Corrected =
Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
12.99 @ 108.916 MPH instead of 13.031 at 108.56 mph...

For the tire pressure, I left them at 35psi since they had put glue on the first 60 ft.

Maybe I could have inflated them a bit more indeed, because it was not spinning at all with the glue they had applied. Thanks Ron!

Cool -- with all into account you've made the 12's...... good stuff.

As Ron says, go higher on tires until you feel some slippage. It might be advantageous to get a little spin by helping the turbos and engine power to spool up a little quicker.

I doubt you'd get too much spin with all wheels driven.

Great news bro......keep it up.

On that same night, just to compare, other cars in that range ran the following :
Camaro SS 2010 13.11
Mercedes C63AMG with few litlle mods 12.70
Charger SRT8 (with minor mods, he was running with his girlfriend) 13.12 and 13.27 (we ran against each other)
Mustang GT 5.0 2011 with a mild tune, auto., but bad launching 12.7-12.9 at 112mph...
So, the SHO defended itself pretty well among sport reputed cars...

Went to the track tonight...
3 more runs in the 12's and the conditions were not optimal :
77F, a bit humid and a strong wind directly hitting the right side of the car...
For some reasons, the trap speed on the right lane appears to be 2-3 mph slower than the left lane...
On the left lane I got 12.997 at 107.99 and 12.976 at 108.15
But my best time was on the right lane with 12.958 at 105.40 (should be around 108... the guy cannot explain, but it has been like that all season, but I can't always go on the left lane...)
So, it seems like the car is ready to go in the 12.8'ish when wind won't be a factor and when temperatures cool down.
Woohoo!
Cheers all!

Still bangin' out 12's -- excellent, Steve.

As you say: Ideal weather may bring .8's or even .7's

C.
Went to the drags yesterday... again! lol. I had a new record but mostly all my runs were between 12.94 and 12.98 at around 108-109... can't wait for cooler weather... I also had a run (not shown below when I was bracket racing and I needed to let off the gas pedal at the end because I was in advance and I didn't want to beat my best time (otherwise disqualified)... I ran 12.949 at 105.46!!! I wonder how much I would have ran if kept pushing it... maybe in the 12.8's???
Here is a picture of my runs with timeslips to show how steady the car is... unbelievable!
First two slips are pale (12.943 at 108.95 and 12.972 at 109.18)

Yikes Steve, you and the SHO have got a knack for consistency. Awesome bro.
You're keeping our Canadian end up for sure.....
With weather on a cooling trend, your times will only get better and better.:woo-hoo:

Hope that tranny issue isn't rearing its ugly head any more?????
Judging by your timeslips I'd say it's not.:)

It only does it when using paddle shifters from 3rd to 2nd... No problem at all when WOT... the car responds very well! Can't wait for cooloer weather... Yesterday was good, in the 60's, but we had a 5mph front wind and humidity around 80%. I want temp around 50F, back wind of 15mph and lowest humidity possible and I will have my 12.7sec.
But very satisfied with how the car is performing and I ran against American fellows from NY state (Plattsburgh) that had SRT8's and Corvette and another guy had a modified 335i convertible and they all did between 13.1 and 13.6 except the Crovette (2010 Z51 with 436 HP) that did 12.47 sec. But I was ahead until 150 meters more or less, so in the street, the Vette is in my mirrors ; )

Wow that is quick if you can handle a Corvette from a dig -- Nothing like AWD for quick starts....Cool (and kudos).

Here's hoping you may be able to shave a couple more tenths with optimum track conditions -- and those conditions shouldn't be too far off. :woo-hoo:

Sounds like you surprised a few racers there yesterday with the SHO.:)

Keep us in the loop and glad to hear the tranny glitch isn't interfering.

Are you going to the drags sometimes? I'd be glad to hear about it... and other Gen4 as well, we don't hear too much and I am for sure very interested to read about others... I feel I am of the only ones sharing... or maybe is it that I go too often? lol! anyways, I am glad you enjoy my progression and I will keep you posted when I will return.
Cheers!
