Wanting to open a discussion on what people have tried regarding ethanol blends and what success/issues you've had with them.

Started my life out with E30 tuning on the SHO, keeping an eye on fuel pressure but seeing them drop to ~1400psi on shifts but always recovering pretty quickly. Managed to see 16 psi and ~23 degrees of timing consistently at 0.82 lambda to handle fueling.

Then installed the XDI-35 fuel pump and have fuel pressure at 2700 psi, ran E35 with 18 psi and ~25 degrees of timing.

Every time the discussion comes up about running greater fuels, everyone always runs away screaming that you need to have an XDI-60, fuel injectors and an upgraded LPFP in order to sustain E85 with any pressure.

Currently experimenting with E60, car is currently commanding 2900 psi with pressure falling to around 2600 psi on shifts but recovering quickly. Seeing 18 psi and 27 degrees of timing at the top of each gear. Car is loving it, picked up 0.3 seconds on draggy with it compared to E30, and it's much less of a hassle than finding a station with both good E85 AND good 91 (don't have 93 readily available here yet).

Everyone always says "well this tuner says..." when ethanol comes up, but I never see any hard data, especially with the advancements in tuning as of late. We run a modified VCT profile that I think has helped greatly, and reduced a lot of the strain on the system for fuel demands.

Currently running 0.85 lambda below 4500 rpm and then tapering to 0.82 at the top end.

Would like to hear what others are seeing, if even generalized if you don't want to share your secrets.

Ive been wanting to run a xdi60 and a boostapump because I want to run full e85, and less meth.

Im seriously considering experimenting with a boostapump with stock hpfp e30. I haven't seen a boost a pump on this platform. Feeding the HPFP higher, more consistent fuel pressure and volume, will give more consistent hpfr pressures.

Are you running the GH IC?

Not sure if he is on here but IIRC there is one and he has gone through a couple pumps. Matt at Gearhead is working on a drop in low pressure pump.

E30 stock HPFP and I am going back to my roots. Full stand alone nitrous kit coming soon. In a compound set up, a little nitrous goes along way.

Are you referring to Rich Yaklin?
ShoNup or something like that? Man, haven't seen him round here in few years. Him, Crash (r.i.p), Darelli and BPD, were the sho gods to me before I could afford one.

This is good news. I'm thinking A walbro and a BAP should carry the stock HPFP on e30. For 3-$400. And carry the xdi35 a bit further into e60+ territory. This will be on of my tinker projects for the winter when my SHO will be stored.

Just a gentle reminder, E85 doesn't necessarily mean 85% ethanol. It can be lower in colder climates/seasons. Or just about any time. I remember someone saying they always test it each time they fill.
You're right. And I think that was SM105K. Also we have to pay attention to this "Flex Fuel" BS at the pump that has 50-85% ethanol. E85 has to have at least 70% ethanol to be E85. "Flex Fuel" and "E85" are not the same.

I'm lucky my local fill spot they post on the pump what the current e content is. This place knows it gets a lot of race guys and runs full e85 in the summer.

It was me, I only test it in the SHO. The Focus has a Flex Fuel tune. I can run 87 all the way E85.

I was just looking around, and found that on Amazon... interesting stuff. And while I won't dabble in ethanol anytime soon, I might get that kit just to test what's available around me in terms of "normal" gas.

yea it's a little pricey, about $300 all in with a custom fuel line from Fore Innovations, the GM Ethanol Sensor and then the Fuel-It kit itself. But it's great for peace of mind.
