Shift the car to sport, apply brake continuously, and push and hold the ESC button until the advancetrac system says "advancetrac off" on the left side of the instrument cluster. Takes about 5 to 8 seconds. Then have fun! Only the PP has complete off function to the best of my knowledge.
Less computer engine management, less torque reduction, less slippage (traction) control=quicker take off. Tires make the difference and if you have good tires with advanacetrac off, you can hook up with more power and not have the computer want to shut you down as much. The performance pack cars have the ability to completely turn off advancetrac for track use. Better power out of curves etc.
Tap once just turns off TRAC, that is good when your at the dragstrip. If your at a road course, then turning off the AdvanceTrac helps there, turns off those "nannies." When you shut the car off, they all default back to on, and have to go back and turn them off.
There's actually 3 options! 1. Tap the button one and it turns off traction control. 2. Tap the button twice and it puts it into "Sport Mode, " which actually limits/reduces amount of traction control and stability control. 3. Push and hold the button for over 5 seconds and the dash will say something like ADVANCED TRAC OFF - meaning everything is completely off such as traction control AND stability control. That's how that NASCAR driver got the SHO sideways or able to drift the car around the track!
I have a 2013 pp and when I tap the button 2 times or hold it for the 5 to 8 seconds it only says traction off. It never says sport mode or advance Trac off. And suggestions?
