Enjoying the car - and first scratch

Well it didnt make it 2 weeks and I got hit by a rock on the bottom front corner of the bumper.
I will have to get it fixed but it brings up a question to you guys.

Are any of you using the clear wrapping on the front of your cars? Does it work as well as advertised in protecting and being hard to see that it is applied. I am ruby red here so I am curious about those with that color.

On a side note, yesterday when heading home , I think I surprised a guy in an M5 BMW when he was trying to make a move and I passed him up.

It also reminds me that I need to get my tune purchase and done soon as well.

Also, all is well with the car outside of a have something inside the car (a panel or seat) making an annoying "pop" noise at times..... rattles and little noises like that drive me crazy.... need some nicer weather and time to find what is making that noise.

Other than that - its been great. The MXV4's have been a good compomise for handling the weather here. The F1's are stacked up in the garage - just havent decided on when I want to give up the fun tickets to purchase wheels for them.

Anyhow, thanks for any feedback you guys might have.

Man handling an M5 without a tune. That's funny! I know BPD has the clear on his front end but his SHO is white. Haven't heard of any others. Get that tune on!

Well not that I thought I would be able to blast him out or anything ( the M5 guy) but I definitely got his attention I got a little chuckle out of it.. but beyond that I think the M5 is a twin turbo V8 .... nearing 500hp if I remember reading about it .... anyhow, it was fun.. probably cost me 10 bucks in gas , but it was fun

If its a new 2013+ M5, he's's pushing 560 HP (which is actually derated so more in reality).

Clear is definitely a plus.. I've done it on all my cars. It will help protect the front end from most things but if the rock is large enough, it will tear through.

Thanks, so can you recommend a brand or a type, I would probably have it done as I am sure there is some skill / tricks in applying it.

If Lamin-X has it I'd go with them. Their headlight and tail light material is pretty thick stuff.

When does the "pop" happen? On my 2013, I was getting a pop when going over bumps, turning, braking, and accelerating. Took me forever to figure out what it was, but turned out to be my driver's seat. I could duplicate the noise by forcefully grabbing the seat and moving it back and forth and side to side. Dealer believes it is a seat track problem. A new seat track just came in and I will get it installed next week.

May or may not be your problem, but figured I would share.

On another note, my window tint place put on a clear bra for me. Not sure of the brand, but so far so good after 10k miles. I would probably put it on my entire hood if I was to do it again so the line didn't show mid hood.

My tint guy has a computerized machine that cuts the pieces. He uses 3M.

That is exactly when it happens.. not on every bump or breaking- Im guessing that is probably the same scenario. It is like you were to reach down the drivers side left back by where the seatbelt attaches .... if you were to flick the plastic down there somewhere - that is what it sounds like.... I cant find it.... and Im tired of being on my head trying to manually reproduce it!

Like I said, it took me forever to figure out it was the seat. And it doesn't happen on every bump or every time I turned or braked. Try sitting in your seat and jump around like you are going over a large bump.

I will let you know if the seat track solved the "pop". Dealer said it was at least a half day job.

Bummer about the scratch!
Yes, I installed the Avery NanoFusion on the front of mine a month after I purchased it back in 2010. It is holding up very well and seems to do what I put it on there for...protect the front from rocks/sand. It is still 'invisible' on my car.
I put it on myself as I ordered it online pre-cut. I was a hard job, but, turned out well.
