hi, ive got a green 93 atx sho that i just got for 300.00, it had a bad cat (rear) so it had no power, and would pop through the intake and make the plugs carbon up. i removed the cats and gutted them and put them back into the y pipe, car idles and runs great at low engine speeds, but it just seems to stop pulling at around 3800 rpm. no mis no spit just flattens out.no check engine light (i checked the lamp)the exhaust doesnt have any catalyst in it, so it doesnt seem to be a back pressure thing anymore.wires and plugs were replaced, engine doesnt tic or knock, and its smooth. fuel presure is 34 psi at idle, 37 with the vacuum hose removed. just wondering if anyone has had this problem, and has any insight to what it is. thanks

The loose cat guts have traveled downstream and are plugging the cat-back.

To test Scott's prognosis, disconnect the Catback from the Y-pipe and take the car for a quick drive. If the problem is gone, then you have a plugged cat back. If the problem still exists, come back and tell us so.

it doesnt seem to be that the mufflers are clogged,i dont hear any rattling and there is exhaust flow comming from both pipes,i will disconnect the mid pipe and see if it makes a difference. but it does seem funny how it seemed to have more power when i disconnected the y pipe from the rear manifold when i was checking for the melted cat...il check that after this socalled blizzard we are going to get here in the north east....thanks

THANKS GUYS, IT WAS CATALYST JAMMED AT THE BEND WHERE IT GOES OVER THE SUSPENSION, DISCONNECTED THE PIPE, AND IT PULLED ALL THE WAY TO 7000 RPM (AT LEAST THATS WHAT THE TACH SAID)WELL AFTER GETTING THE CAR AND HAVING THE REAR BANK OF PLUGS BEING FOULED,THE REAR CAT MELTED AND THE EXHAUST FILLED WITH CAT.DOESNT SEEM THAT IT WAS THAT BAD OF A BUY.ESPECIALY SINCE THE ORIGINAL MOTOR WENT AT 168000 MILES AND WAS REPLACED WITH A 50000 MILES MOTOR. THE PERSON I GOT THE CAR FROM SAITH THAT 2 WEEKS AFTER THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED, IT STARTED TO RUN LIKE CRAP,FORD TOLD THEM THE TIMING BELT MUST HAVE JUMPED, SO THE DID THE "MAJOR SERVICE" AS THEY TOLD ME, THEN A MONTH LATER THE SAME PROBLEM,SO THE CAR SAT FOR A LONG TIME TILL THE WOMAN WHO OWNED IT SAW I COLLECTED CARS AND ASKED IF I WANTED A FORD TAURUS,INITIALY I SAID "NO THANKS" THEN SHE TOLD ME "MY HUSBAND SAID ITS A SPORT MODEL"SO I DECIDED TO LOOK, IM HAPPY I DID! NOW IT RUNS GREAT! AND THE TRANNY WAS REBUILT 35000 MILES AGO SO IT SHOULD BE OK FOR A WILE TO GET ME BACK AND FORTH ON MY 60 MILE A DAY COMMUTE.
