If you go RWD, I think you'd have better luck.

Look for a Ranger-bellhousing manual transmission as a starting point. Other people here have done the RWD conversion in other vehicles, and will be able to help you out better. One guy in particular did it recently with a Dune Jumping Ranger... look for "Lupo" here.

A 62 Comet!!!! :thumb: WOW!! I haven't heard of those in years. Had one wwwaaayyy back in high school,,. Mine was a powder blue 2 door. Came with a little 170 six with 2 speed auto.. I ripped that out and dropped in a 289 with a 3 speed manual. It was my first engine swap. Anyway, back to your swap,,in my opinion, go with a small block. They were an optional engine in those cars, 221 or 260 cu.in. V8s. It's the same basic chassis as early Mustangs and Falcons, so lots of parts are available for them. Sure , the Yamaha would be unique, but the small block would be a direct bolt in. That would give you the choice of 260 (forget the tiny 221) 289, 302, and alll the aftermarket stuff available for them. Those are very light cars, even a stock 2bbl 289 makes them scream. The 351s have a taller deck, and require a bit of extra work. Good luck, and post some pictures of that Comet ASAP!
