Engine stand issues

Alright folks, I am at a loss. I've tried everything I can think of. I've loosened and flipped them every which way and I cannot for the life of me get them to line up with more than two holes at once. This was supposed to be a universal engine stand. The hoist I got worked great and I love it however the stand appears to be not quite so universal and is now throwing a huge wrench in the works of this restomod project. I know I can't be the only one that's ever put one of these on a stand, so what am I missing here people?

I usually remove the arms and mount the block to the plate. Two bolts is plenty that way.

It has been a long time and I don't recall details but I agree with taking the plate off and maneuvering the mounting to the engine and then lift to reattach to the stand. I think I had more than 2 bolts (but I can not say that 100%). I had to shim the heck out of some of them but those I don't think were subframe bolts but same thread hardware that were long. Once you can move the plate around you can get the best placement. I haven't done this in maybe 15 yrs??

Thats an easy one. Mount the plate to the motor first. Use your transmission bolts. Those top 4 holes will be fine. Your going to need to lift the motor onto the stand. Usually ill have the motor on the bed and tailgate of a truck and put the stand on it and let its down easy. Not a good idea if the truck is lifted.
And put the swivel mounts up. In the picture they are down. They give better reach in the up position. It all works the same. Motor may be up a little higher but it will be fine.
Top 2 mounts to the top 2 holes on block. Bottom 2 mount slid out to the very bottom 2 holes of the block. They may not be threaded so use a longer transmission bolt in those and a nut

You have to get creative with the mount but it does work.
