I purchased a 92 mtx for cheap knowing there was a problem with the motor. I just want to make sure that I am not overlooking something here. The car will not start, you can hear the starter engaging but won't turn over the engine. I took the battery out so I could have room to get a breaker bar on the main crank bolt an I can not get the crank to turn at all even with a pipe over the breaker bar as leverage. The car is in neutral and you can move the car by pushing it in neutral or with the clutch engaged. The motor seems to have seized up. If so, what would cause this? Any ideas?

Did you pull the spark plugs out yet and see if there full of anything? This would be a good start. From there you can remove the serpentine belt and make sure nothing on it is holding it back. Then pull it down some and remove the timing belt and see if it will turn.

I haven''t checked that yet so I will. I did notice someone removed the radiator resevoir from the car for who knows what reason. Maybe it over heated as a result? I will remove the spark plugs tomorrow and pull the belts off and see if I can get the crank to turn. Thanks for the help

if it threw a rod it could also very well be siezed up, although usually you will see oil and/or coolant leaking as a result of a hole in the block.
