I would like to remove an engine and transmission from a decent salvage yard 98 V8. I have a 1997 V8 are there any major differences between model years? Any and all help is appreciated.

See if they can use a loader to help you out. You need to unbolt the subframe from the body, suspension components, wiring, etc. and then lift the car up by the steel bumper that sits behind the plastic cover.

Then drag the subframe out from under the car. Try a search here on V8sho.com for a step by step.

IIRC, the cpus are different from the 96-97 to the 98-99. It's not a plug in play deal and I'm sure others will chime in to tell the exact differences.

from what I understand... 97 to 98 had alot of ECM/electrical differences...

as far as the engine... think it was pretty much the same.

Dont quote me though.

Get the PCM and wire harness and you are good to go, well except for the PATS.
