Alrighty... I FINALLY got my 93 ATX going again. The RH idler pulley on the timing belt had fallen off and I had to replace it.
The problems started around the time the pulley fell off. I managed to limp it over to a safe parking spot and left it. When I stopped the car, the engine was smoking. Billowing white smoke. Stinky billowing white smoke. It's not a sweet smell. Actually it smells like burning plastic. The smoke is coming from the passenger side engine bay, kinda hard to pinpoint.
Anyway, I finally got everything reconnected and running. But it's still smoking sometimes. Not all the time, but sometimes. And if the engine is taken above about 5k RPMs, it hesitates. Like it goes up to 5.5k and then back down. It feels like the torque converter is slipping or somesuch.
I'm thinking one or more of my cam seals may have gone bad. If so, how hard is that to change out?
Opinions?
