Engine Idle Oscillation

My sho has a problem with the engine idle speed. It will increase to 1500 and decrease to 500. Sometimes the car turns itself off while I'm driving. It came on suddenly last week accompanied by a loud bump. I have no clue what is wrong with it. It's a 93 mtx.

Sounds like you may need to reset your idle. On the top of the list on the main page there is a "how do i forum" check in there to learn how to do that. Also if your car is shutting off while driving it could be a crank sensor. If you look in my sig you can get instructions on how to get your codes. Your car will be best at telling you whats wrong. I also think autozone can get them for free there too.

I was told about this trick by Dave(cobraii976). Ground straps. It helped my idle alot. Run ground wires from your throttlebody to the intake to the firewall and strut tower. Like I said, sounds weird but it works.
