Search this forum for the Shophoenix explanation of how to get codes with a paperclip. It is easy to operate if you can borrow a code scanner, or they are around $100.00 or less for a Ford OBD1 code scanner.
A lot of people have trouble with that little Distributer-less ignition module (DIS) on the surge tank of your intake. Not so much that it fails internally, but the bottom 2 screws provide the ground. If it looses its ground, the whole thing is a mess.
Any problems that get worse as the engine gets hotter could have a basis in Electronics, like coils, so look at those closely.
You have done a lot to eliminate problems, by replacing all the things you did, so I would lean towards the DIS module or the coils.
Just to be sure, tell us how the wires are numbered on the motor and on the coil top as many publications have it wrong. I think it is a sticky at the top of this forum page by MrAnominus - the sho chopper upper, I think. See if you agree with his numbering.

What manual/guide did you use for your spark plug wire layout?

he is right one of the firing orders in the chiltons manual is wrong so if you went off of that. but if it starts up fine thats most likely not it.
