I decided the engine on the sho was too greasy to work on at this point so I used some super purple degreaser after using 3 in 1 oil to detect intake leaks.
I did this shortly after a quick trip downtown.
The water that I sprayed the degreaser/grease off with got under the spark plug boots and was sitting there boiling after driving around today.
a couple of the spark plug wire ends came off so I re crimped them to the wire.
what would be a good solution? electric grease around the spark plug boots?

What he said. Due to the design of our plug wells and the plug wire boots, as the engine cools down the well is under vacuum. Any liquid that is around the edge of the boot will get sucked into the well by the vacuum.

The offroad guys (they love to run through creeks and washes) solved that problem by heating up an ice pick with a torch and melting a vent hole in the top of each plug well cap. No more vacuum and now the only water that gets in is what can be splashed through the hole and it evaporates quickly.
