Hello to all!!

My Plain Jane is having issues.
2016 SHO non-PP
Sync 3
Apple or Android play?? No idea.
Approx 88,*** miles
No extra tune

Issues are: Backup screen stays on way longer (didn’t reset the delay), GPS … if it works, it’s only for a short time then no GPS, text messages received shows the year 2003, no voice recognition, every startup displays the Ford verbiage about connection options even though you just set it the startup before, it automatically disconnects my cell whether Bluetooth or plugged in, etc
Common sense is telling me the system is going out. But what is that exactly … I don’t have a clue.
So here’s my questions:

What is the correct terminology to use when I talk to Ford ?? Or please direct me to where I can read more details regarding my issues.

In the meantime, will I be hurting anything else , like battery or sensors of any kind if I don’t get it fixed??

Of course I want to have everything working properly. Unfortunately my job has me traveling rest rest of the week & I want to be aware of any extra issues this may cause, or if it causes any at all.
To me this all seems like silly stupid questions however I hear my father’s voice saying
If you don’t know the answer, then the only stupid question is the question you don’t ask in fear of being stupid.

Thank you in advance!! :shame::shrug:

I agree with @Majestic APIM is the computer for Sync3 the touch display is just a display, then it connects to the cable for the GPS cable. APIM is the brains for sync. It going bad won't affect driving. It needs to be diagnosed - just bring to Ford if you have a warranty still.

Here are the exact steps to get to it:

Did you/they reset the BMS when the new battery was installed? Doubt the issues are caused by not resetting but it's worth a try.

Ford dealer didn't reset the BMS in my dad's '13 F150, we didn't know about the BMS at all, and now here a few years later the radio will shutdown with the message "power off to save battery".

It can be reset using FORSCAN and a wired https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081VQVD3F?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Just look for BMS - hit reset in the software.

Out there somewhere
FWIW, I have seen info that, after installing a new battery, the BMS will reset after the vehicle sits for 8 hours undisturbed. In practice I have not seen this actually happen. The age of the battery, in days, does not reset. I don't believe any other parameters reset. The only way to know for sure that the BMS is reset is to use a scan tool. Forscan will do it. If you want to verify for yourself, you can set up gauges in Forscan or Forscan Lite. BCM PIDs battery_age and bat_st_chrg are useful. Check the numbers before and after.

Appreciate the info.
Understand about the issues the battery install can cause but personally I think it’s a Sync issue.
Last Friday spoke with someone regarding Sync3. She was a little taken back when I told her the Ford Pass app will not install. She read the past history of my issues then did some things along with a software reset. She got everything working again however before we got off the phone, it all disconnected & back to square one.
Sooner or later I’ll get this figured out.
Thanks again for the info.

Guess what!!! For the past 2 days Sync has connected to my cell phone. The music is playing, the No GPS sign has disappeared, & the phone was never disconnected during a call. I didn't bring it to a shop - it just started working again. Gotta love technology!!!
