Is it possible that my 89 is infact electric red as opposed to currant red??? it is a late production 89. the red is too dark to be currant red which was the only red available in 89.

I think all 89's are Electric Red actually. The proper name for the color is "Electric Current Red", Currant Red might just be a common misspelling, and has caught on. It isn't listed as a repl. paint as far as I know, just Electric Red is listed. Anyone know for sure?

My original Taurus brochure shows Ford factory color options for the Taurus of "Electric Red Clearcoat Metallic" and "Garnet Red" that were not available on the SHO. It also has "Currant Red" that was available for both the SHO and the regular Taurus.

I seen a 89 SHO that looked like it was almost pink or salmon colored. I dont know if it was faded or what. I drove by it 3 or 4 times cuz I could not belive it. so i stopped to look at it. It was a shame it was all dented and rusty. Anybody else seen a SHO a light shade of red before?

mine seems to dark to be currant red....is it possible that it got painted Electric red? It says that in 90 electric red replaced currant red as the red for sho's.

i thought mine was darker than that too, until i took the luggage rack off my car and then when i went to repaint the closest thing i could find at first was a dark canyon red - it turned out way darker than the rest of the car - the color didnt look so dark after that

The '89 red is not a clearcoat and will fade to pink in extreme cases. It's a pain to keep that paint up! When it's in good condition, it is a deep red. Also, it's not metallic. I think the electric red you are describing may be a metallic. I believe the name of the '89 color is just Currant Red.
