I was on the way home from work today. I was driving it like I stole it as usual. I was about a block from home when it sounded like my engine blew. I go home and assessed the damage. number two backed out then broke my coil. my imrc. prevented a hole in my hood

That doesn't sound good. The should only happen on detonation or non-torqued plug. Did you take pictures? Do you mean your Intake Manifold or IMRC? IMRC would cover plugs 6 & 7

I had one blow out of the head. Helicoil and it was good to go for a long time until I got rid of the car. Maybe 2 yrs from repair until I sold it.

threads look ok. I think it just backed out. the coil is broken.

You can get a helicoil or timesert in there probably. Worth a shot. My plug blew out of the hole on my GenIII and repair held for a long time.

in the process of fixing it today I dropped the heliecoil into the cylinder.

Yes those good times. Like the time I dropped a small washer into the #1 and didn't notice until start up.

I only use the best 316 stainless! Non magnetic

But the compression was low on that cylinder. Must have bent a valve or nicked seat.

Shop vac (with empty cannister to confirm the part came out) with a long tube rigged to the end with duct tape? Sorta like this pic

Nope. Heads come off in-car so long as you can reach it.

They have magnetic and claw snakes at most automotive places that could get in there.
A wire close hanger or a stripped back copper wire could also work in a pinch.

If the piston is in there it should be a drop into the cylinder filled with the piston. Get enough of a strong vacuum with hose in there should suck it out. Even if the hose diameter won't take it inside it should stick to the opening.

get like a small tube or a small pipe thats like 3/8 opening and duct tape to the end of a shop vac feel around suck it out..
reminds of when i dropped a bolt down the LIM it somehow landed on the 2ndary buterfly

Filling out this picture a little bit so we can understand the challenge a little better.

Were you threading in the Helicoil when it fell in?

In other words, did you turn it in too far, it unthreaded to the inside and dropped into the cylinder?

If that is the case, then the Helicoil is actually larger than the hole at this point and you CAN'T pull it out, you could only reverse realign it and thread it back out backwards. That would be an amazing magic trick!

If that is the case = head comes off is only solution.
