My father's 99 SHO is reading Lean/misfire on Cylinder 1, the Autozone guy said it might be the EGR valve.. He and I both would like to know the location, and if it's easy to get to?

pictures would be nice!!

THANKS!

It's the big disc (diaphram) valve bolted to the side of the surge tank, just downstream of the throttle body on the driver's side. Has a vacuum port sticking out the top and a tube running down to the rear exhaust manifold.

Wow, didn't read the rest of the post until now.

Paul's right - there is no way the EGR system can cause a misfire on cylinder 1. The PCM can't tell if an individual cylinder is running lean; it can only tell if an entire bank is running lean.

Pull the intake and replace the left most coil. Put new plugs in the back too.

****, might as well replace all the coils while your in there.
