I recently installed a '89 engine in my '92 SHO. My '92 was equipped with an EGR setup, the '89 was not. I'm not planning on using any of the EGR stuff except the exhaust manifold, which I fabbed a blocking plate for. My question is this: What do I do to make sure I don't end up with a CEL? Is their a difference between a EGR equipped computer and a non EGR equipped computer? Do I now plug the vacuum port on the back( firewall side) of the intake manifold where the EGR solenoid hooked up to?

Thanks for the help!

The EGR computer will have to be exchanged for one that is not EGR. Otherwise you will get a CEL. The blocking plate and plugging the vacuum ports will take care of the hardware issues.

If you can't find a blocking plate, an appropriately sized freeze plug and some JB-weld will block that hole off nicely. Make sure the JB-weld fully cures before you go putting vacuum on it... I did this on my now EGR-less (it snapped off :frown:) car and it's worked for over 6 months fine now... Tweecer took care of the EGR code.
