Hey, I'm in the process of installing a digital dash and I was told to replace the ECT that goes to the gauge with the same type as the EEC sensor. The new one of course having two wires, I was told to ground the same lead that goes to the ground on the EEC sensor on the new gauge sensor and the other lead to the old wire going to the gauge itself.
Basically, when I did this (while still using the analog gauges) the gauge now drops to the bottom and the check engine light is on. Is this only telling me that my sensor is bad and should get a new one, or will I have a problem with that sensor not working? The EEC temp sensor is brand new and working perfectly. I know my car was working fine with the original gauge sensor so nothing else should cause any overheating.
Personally, I wouldn't think that that sensor does anything but tell the gauge what to display, but correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks,
Paul
