Awesome.

I still have a few sets left for this go around if anybody else is interested. I think I have like 6 sets left.

Any takers?

Quick word on installation. Actually really just about the heat shrink.

You'll notice you can get the cap pretty tight (don't over tighten as you may tear the oring) and I'm confident it will hold over time. But the heat shrink is there as a fail safe.

Cut it long enough to cover most of the knurled part of the cap, all the way past the flats of the hex portion of the flare fitting. When you shrink it, the adhesive will grip both and keep the cap on tight. At the next service, just cut it with a razor, peel it by hand, service and repeat. You'll have to get the next round of adhesive heatshrink though.

As for heating, I have an actual heat gun for this purpose but a hairdryer will do. Lighters can work, but it can be difficult to apply the heat evenly.

Hey what’s the rub on that heat shrink? Is it sold as 3/4”...1/2”?
Its 4:1 adhesive backed heatshrink. Starts life as 5/8" ID and shrinks down to 5/32" ID. I prefer 4:1 as it will grip very tight when it shrinks, but really, 2:1 or 3:1 will work. The stuff I provide is a bit on the higher end as far as heatshrink goes but cheaper stuff could probably get by.

I supplied enough for 4 pieces, but you only need 3. For future changes you can source it yourself or I can sell it to you. Minimum size on separate heatshrink is a 6" long piece (should give you enough for 8 pieces) and would probably have to go for $12 a stick without shipping. Shipping is about $8 and I would only charge that once if someone wanted multiple sticks in one order.

Honestly, you could just pick up some at your local hardware store that would work and it would probablybe cheaper. The stuff sold on 99% of shelves is 2:1, though. I would make sure you get the adhesive backed stuff though.

I think it was a great idea, and the 4:1 shrink is good stuff. I know I’ve used decent 3:1 before I got from my electrician uncle but it wasn’t adhesive. So the use of this is definitely a weight off my mind.

But because I worry about stuff, my last and only concern is the O ring holding up. Being for refrigerants, I just hope it withstands the 200° fluid. Guess we’ll all find out.

I’d have done the PTU but if I remember correctly it only has like 8,000 on the last change and I just wasn’t feeling it today.

Yeah, if there are any issues with that oring, let me know. I'm pretty sure it will hold up, but if there are any issues, I've got some resources for something different. Good feedback, thank you.
