There is no reason you can't change oil types. Change regularly and you'll stay clear of buildup due to oil.

+1 .. Looks like early O/changes just might be a very worthwhile investment, especially with a lot of city driving.

abs99 - Think this would be a good idea, based on the amount of oil I get in my 2 G8's catch-cans. I e-mailed James @ Billett Specialties, who is one of the G8 Catch Can suppliers, but he never responded.

If you could send a pix of where the most appropriate location for placement would be, perhaps one of us can come up with something.

I am really not too sure where I would place a catch can. Most installs I've seen require a lot of tubes routed around to have one catch can working for both sides of the ventilation system . . . I'll think on this a bit.

IT won't do harm to switch oil brands, but given the choice, it is better to stick with one oil formulation in a particlular engine for the life of the vehicle. ABout 1/4 of a quart of oil is the additives, and each oil has a different formulation.
