What the **** is so expensive about this intake that for $125 you only get half an intake?

The MAF to throttle body pipe can't be that expensive to produce. I could be wrong though.

I just got done talking with **** and the prices have changed, if you want the full kit it is going to be $135 shipped. If you want just the fender kit it will be $105 shipped. This group buy wouldn't take long because he can make several of them a week, so we don't have to wait a year to get something.

Test it on an ATX before you say it works with an ATX. Engine positions are slightly different.

I hate to be the voice of doom but I think some of you might be a little unrealistic in your expectations of price. We offer one of the most popular intakes for the 3800 market so we're able to keep production costs relatively low because of the scale of economics. Even still, we sell the intake for $190.00 and it's almost identical in design to this (just for a different application).
A kit like this, with the blockoff plate, and all accessories for under $200 is a good deal. If he's willing to do any better on a group buy I'd say grab it and run. It looks like a really nice setup.

Don't get me wrong, it is a nice kit with good looking build quality. But it looks like all it has besides the plate is the tube, which you can get pretty cheap. I haven't priced anything out, but I can't see it costing that much to put a pipe/tube in a piece of metal
. And I'm still planning on getting one, but not necessarily through this group buy. I just think $100 give or take would be a good price on both ends. But like I said, I haven't priced anything out. I don't know. I'm just probably going to try to fab up my own and see how much that costs and if that doesn't work I'll probably just buy one off ebay. Unless this GB starts up after I have enough. I'm willing to pay the $$, just not at the current moment. I just don't understand WHY it costs so much...

Because his time is worth money and because he's making them for a profit...
It costs so much due to the K&N filter and silicone couplers that stuff ins't cheap. $40 - $50 for the filter, $25 - $30 for the couplers, $15 for the first tube and who knows how much for the second tube and fender adapter and all the time to make the kit plus shipping. I think thats a pretty good deal.

I have this on my 91. I can speak for the quality of weld etc. It is a nice piece and provides a great look and definatley a great sound. I think that you need to know I noticed vitrually no gains (not dyno, just feel) but I feel that anything in the low 100's would be a fair price for this visual/audible mod. I got it from this ebay seller over a year ago. He was very easy to deal with and when he came out with the upgraded version, he offered to upgrade mine for free (i just had to pay shipping). He gets a thumbs up for quality seller and communication from me.
