I just wanted to say these work. I got one since I was getting intermediate misfire on cyl 4. Replaced and no cel and runs nice and smooth :). These are only around $25 shipped IIRC. A lot better than $100 at the auto parts store. I think it's made in China but only time will tell how long it lasts. Just wanted to point this out, as when I searched I found link to amazon and they were discontinued.

There are numerous kinds that are sold on eBay. Did you get a seller that is from China or the US? I have tried twice now with the sellers from China and they are complete crap, but the sellers here in the US have decent ones.

I wonder how different the ones from Chinese sellers are vs the US sellers? i.e. I wonder if they're not the same manufacturer with different markups.

I got 8 chinese ones in my 98. Been in for a year now. Only had 2 problems. One was spark plug related had a Bosch plus4 go bad, second I got one coil wet while washing down the motor. Other than that runs great. Im now running Motorcraft plugs.

I have only tried one. The one that I have had good luck with is AM Auto Parts.

Could you pass along the email or physical address for them, please? I am still running the set that came with the car, and though they are working fine, I figure I should perhaps buy some spares for the future.

I got some off Ebay quite some time ago from a place called something like 'Alanisautoparts'.

I think they were out of California.

No problems to date.

To echo E1

I bought the coils from Alanisdeals.
I have 4, on the rear bank.

I had a DTC misfire on #4. According to my ohm measurements 2 of the (I believe original) MC's were bad at 90k.

It's only been a few hundred miles, but so far the $17/ea - actually about $21 each shipped - coils seem to be working well. Plugs are new Autolite Double Plats.

That is the same seller I bought mine from. So far so good.

My '03 CVPI has COP too and when I had a few go bad at around 110K miles, I replaced all 8 with aftermarket foreign ones and had 3 of them go bad in the first year and a half. I replaced them with the original Motorcrafts I took off that I knew were still good that I saved as my backup set and haven't had any problems since and it's been about 3 years now. So I guess it's about a 60% success rate, at least from my experience.

Now of course I realize the genIII's COPs are a different design than the 4.6L 2V's, but I've heard similar results from other Ford COP applications (mostly other mod motors).

Just thought I'd follow up on this for anyone due for replacement cop's.

I have roughly 25k on these now and no ignition issues.
