Hey, gang.

I've got my car jacked up, with stands. I've removed the wire from the solenoid. (The solenoid moves within its housing -- that's a good indication I'm replacing the correct part.)
I've got the Chilton's manual, but it's a bit "generic" in its pictures and directions.

I'm sure I could remove the 2 bolts that are holding my starter in if I could see them and/or get a wrench on them.

Is there a nifty technique for dropping this bad boy out that one of you folks knows about and could share?

I searched the forum and found some useful stuff, but I must be doing something wrong, because I can't even see the bolts to get a wrench on 'em!

Thanks for any enlightenment that you can provide.

I replaced my starter last summer, and they aren't really too bad to get at, but I had to kind of crane my neck to be able to see the bolts and everything. I had the car up in the air and laid on my back, then slid under pretty much dead center of the car from the front. This positioning allowed me to get a decent look at the starter assembly. What year car do you have? I'm assuming you have an MTX, since you stated you removed wires from the solenoid (located on the driver's side fender wall). Not really any tricks to do this, other than body positioning.

Oh, and as an FYI, I couldn't take the bolts off with a ratchet no matter how many different combinations of extension/universal/extension I used. I had to use a wrench; IIRC it was a 13mm.

I swear if I miss a day of work I'm going to have to be retrained.

It's a 94 ATX. I removed the wire from the solenoid that is pretty much attached to the starter.
