OK, so it's time to retire the titanium SHO, but the motor and driveline are still good, so I am planning on keeping them.

Since I am gutting the car completely, it seems to me that the easiest way to get it out will be to essentially unbolt the strut towers, disconnect everything from the firewall, and lift the car up and over the motor (Reader's Digest version, of course, I know the actual novel will play out much, much longer...).

I'll be tossing the shell of the car in the end, so I don't even have to be very nice to the body (ie, cut away annoying bits, like over the rear struts to get the 12 month old rear struts back...).

I did do a search, but 'pull motor' turns up _alot_. I tried other iterations, but nothing came up. I seem to recall a thread that this was a pretty easy way of doing it...

Thanks

Brian

Yea if you have access to a fork lift and a jack where you can get under it and unbolt everything, that should be the easist way to do it. Disconnect the all of the front wheel stuff and the wheels will come out with it. Good luck!

If you really want to do it quickly... A circular saw with a metal cutting blade and a sawzaw. Take the fenders off and cut the front of the body right off. support the subframe and the car, with the car hanging a bit higher, and disconnect the subframe, PS rack, AC lines, electrical and brakes and you're golden! I just did it this way BTW. Took me about 3 hours.

89, remove the hood, pull the axles, disconnect everything up front (coolant hoses, heater hoses, harness, etc.) and out through the top it comes, slick as anything. No ABS lines or controller to worry about. On a 90 & up, you have the ABS to worry about, but that's about it.

If you pull the driveline through the top, you don't have to disconnect the steering column from the car to drop the subframe.

With an ATX car, drop the subframe - I don't THINK you can get the ATX out through the top, but I haven't TRIED yet. Just looked it over. :)

Well, then interior of the car is mostly gutted right now, anyways... I will be removing the dash, etc. I plan on keeping almost everything, except the body (I'm sure there will be bits that get thrown out, but...).

The motor isn't going anywhere, it will just be a spare, for now, there isn't anything wrong with the motor in the black '90. Right now we've got 3 cars here in Toronto, and that's all I can handle. I left the Titanium SHO at my parents place, about 2 hours away, so I really want to wrap it up quickly, and get it out of the backyard (sure, it's the country, but I don't think my mother is too crazy about the 'derelict' car...)

Cutting the front off the car actually sounds not too bad, gets it down to a manageable size that I can wheel into the corner of the garage and work on at my leisure...

Thanks

Brian
