Well For those of you with the Performance Package at least through MY 2015 the SHO P/P stock wheels are Goodyear Eagle F1's. General recommendations are Summer Only but in DFW it is pretty much always summer. I received a set from Gregg9933 his 15 SHO P/P had the Eagle F1 but in Oregon obviously they wont last long even if traded out for the winter. He sent me His Eagle F1 and only cost me about $409 for shipping after he got the Continental DWS. Fast forward a little over 18 months and 25K...(ish) miles later went in for annual TX state safety/emissions inspection today. FAIL Tread depth and cords showing. Tech showed me the tires and I saw the cords also advised that rears were cupping which was reported to be advised to be residual damage from rear shock failure. I replaced shocks but about six months later when I got another daily driver. Service Advisor saw the cords showing and basically stopped the inspection there. Did not enter in data base and did not charge. I asked if I could bring OEM tires which had roughly 10-11K miles and were still built up in the garage. Simple tire swap since both sets had rims at most maybe reset the TPMS for the OEM tires. He was skeptical since they were technically used tires but explained the situation and agreed to allow for inspection. 20 Minutes to Inn/Out Burger Drive Thru 20 minutes home and about 20 minutes back I had the OEM wheels back at NTB. A Couple of hours later done. Failed emissions but I am about 99% sure that is the LMS Tune I forgot to reset to factory tune for inspection my bad!! Safety good tires good and I have a few options.

1. Run OEM rims....Flower Petal) until the OEM tires wear out.
2. Transfer OEM Michelins to the aftermarket Rims
3. Get new OEM Michelin Primacy's and install on the aftermarket rims. I am inclined to go with either option two or three the goal is to keep the OEM rims in decent condition if I ever have to trade in. Costco has the Michelin rotation for the $70 off set of four......They rotate between Michelin and Bridgestone and this time its Michelin's turn.

FYI the Eagle F1's had about 25K miles on them and used them in DFW two round trips to Central Pennsylvania roughly 8K plus the roads and weather around the DFW Metroplex. Reading reviews on Eagle F1 they are a soft rubber compound and although performance rated long term mileage is not expected. Apparently I was on the higher end of the service life scale at 25K....ish!! That comes with rotating every roughly 6K so I had initial install in January 2016 Rotate/Balance May 2016 R/B 9/2016 R/B 2/2017 and removed from vehicle. 8/31/2017. Initial install and three rotations not too bad and although I would probably not remove them if I had a P/P don't expect a lot of service life unless you are religiously removing them for winter and even then tire service life don't expect much more than about 20-25K. In addition to cords showing I was down to the wear bars and probably either at or close to Minimum tread depth which every state I have lived in so far with annual safety inspections is 2/32nds.

Summary: I got my $400 out of them but will most likely go back to the Prmacy's

A bit of sarcasm in this post, take it in good humor:

I've had F1's on both my 2013 (OEM and a replacement set) and my 2016. If you expected anything more than a super sticky, fast-wearing performance tire, you were mistaken ;)

The 2013 had 40+K miles on it when I returned it at end-of-lease after 41 months. The second set of F1's were almost bald, but just enough to pass the lease inspection (that actually happened after I got my 2016, but I digress). The first OEM set were down to the cords before I realized they were shot. That was my own fault, I had not monitored tire wear versus tire pressure WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT. The outer edges of the tire wore more than the tread.

I now have about 10K miles on my 2016 OEM's, and they are less than half gone, but I've been easier on this car overall. I suspect about 20K miles on them before I need to replace them. I did run winter tires this past winter on the 2016, so that's about 5K that is not on the OEM F1's

Both my 2013 and 2016, the tire wear is perfect, and I rotate them every oil change, which for me is around 5K miles. And that's on New York Metro area roads that are potholes and asphalt patches galore.

They are what they are - a high performance tire. They handle great, they stick like glue, even down to 30 degrees F (which is unusual for performance tires).

BTW, it's always good to at least LOOK at the tires before you go for an inspection ... But then, I rotate my tires myself, so I'm always looking at them every 5K miles.

It seems to me that tires in general have become less consistent in their life / performance over the past decade. I have some Goodyear tires on my truck that are still nearly half tread and are not that old (2013 production date) but they are so rock-hard that any wetness on the road and they are like ice skates. On the Volvo, a new set of Michelin tires are nearly shot after only 20k miles - they stick great but the tread wears away like butter. Those are just two examples, I have lots more. It just seems like there is no consistency in how any of them perform these days...

It's important to pay attention to the tire compound type - I have had various sets of Goodyears on my cars and they all wear the same depending on what they are intended for. I suspect your Volvo has performance tires on it.

Side note: I can hardly get more than 20K out of ANY set of tires, I'm very ******* them.

I bought my 2013 with about 20k miles and it had a new set of F1s, after about 15k miles I am happy with how much tread is left on them considering they are a performance summer tire. I was expecting less out of them. And to be honest I was really impressed with them in cold weather, I had another car at the time but did drive it in the cold and even light snow and it did commendably well. Now that it's my only car I plan on all seasons before I would have to commute in snow though.

Different tires can have vastly different characteristics, max performance tires typically wear fast and don't do well in the cold.

A friend has a Camaro with OEM Pirellis on them - when it's below 35 degrees, he says they turn to stone and it's like driving on ice.

The F1's don't do that. With full tread, they are "ok" in the snow, with anything less than 1/2 tread left, they get squirrelly ;) On ice, they are amazing.

I mentioned it elsewhere, but I went with 18" Goodyear Ultra Grip 3's (cop-car tires) on my 2016 this past winter. Great tires.

Thanks I need to check Costco. They are not showing Primacy's available on website but I will visit local and probably need to special order. I can also do tire Rack.

Ford dealers will generally match pricing and you can take advantage of their rebates/credits owner.ford.com

Eh, I trashed a set of Primacy's in 15k miles. Personally I was not impressed and won't ever bother with another set. Replaced them with a set of Firestone Indy 500 that have been outstanding (5k on them so far). The Firestone's are a high performance summer tire that work so much better than the Primacy's ever did. If I only get 15k out of these I'm certainly having a lot more fun and it wouldn't surprise me. So far though they're wearing very well. That said I've driven them in 30 degree weather and they worked fine, as in they didn't feel dangerous at all.

My car had primacies on it when I bought it, not sure if they were brand new or not, but I got 45K out of them. I went with Nittos in February, I have a little over 10K on them and they look brand new still.

I forgot to post follow up but decided on Michelin's but NOT PRIMACY. I am keeping the PRIMACY's on the OEM Rims in the garage. My final Decision was Pilot Sport A/S 3+ This was the follow up version to the original Pilot Sport. Good traction although it hasn't rained here yet since purchase. Traction, performance they grip like Velcro. Overall recommendations were good on tirerack.com. Performance, wet/dry traction, quiet ride, a good balance of all factors. Long term durability is TBD but previous reviewers seemed to indicate in the 40-50K range with proper alignment, rotate/balance, and proper PSI inflation.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear. I am not a fan of the primacy for sporty driving. I had the older Pilot Sport A/S when I had my Lincoln LS and was happy with them overall. I was never a big Goodyear fan but really have no complaints about the OEM F1s except now that I am down to one car I need all seasons.
