It does mean business. I am a good example of that.

LMS has always been consistent in their recommendations over the years.

So idk why this seems to be "new" news, or the "final word".

They have never wavered. 100% Methanol 100% of the time, and if running their racing tune file(s) then VP MS109. Period.

That's fine, your perogative.

Never said anything bad about E.

Just confirming however, that LMS has been consistent in their suggestions, so it's not really "new" news to us folks who've been around the platform since it's re-introduction back in 2010.

Good luck to all.

Well, like they told you.... you are quirk in the Matrix. Lol.

I mean ****, so is SHOnuup4 Rich as much a quirk with his LMS tune and E blend a quirk in his own right.

Is what it is. $h!t sit back and enjoy it!

It's a SHO afterall. Given all the history I have learned from the previous Gen owners, it's not uncommon for their to be oddities.

Much like the oddities of all their owners respectively. Haha. Us Gen 4 & Gen 5 owners are carrying the torch well.

So, whilst I agree in your assessment in LMS being consistent, I must state that LMS never mentioned anything more than 93octane was recommended.

I grilled them on their tunes after a previous experience not going well with a different tuner leading me to believe there was a issue when there clearly wasn't. So I wanted to make doubly sure as best as possible via a phone call that their tunes were indeed as advertised.

However, it was never mentioned that the 4+X race tune was recommended to be run with 109 octane.

Maybe Anthony assumed that it was common knowledge.

And I must be a quirk... Three different tuners... All said my car doesn't respond as other SHOs usually do...

Just need to dyno/track it too see if the quirk is good or bad lol!!

When I got my stage 4 plus X Race tune a month ago, LMS told me that it's a grade assist tune that will run on 93, but will run best on 100+ octane.

Could it depend upon the car's strategy code? They certainly never said anything to me about running 109. They recommended mixing some race fuel with 93. I made it clear that I have 102 race fuel available. As I said before, my car ran slightly slower with the race tune and 50/50 mix of 102/93 than with the regular 4+X. I had zero knock retard at WOT. About the only difference I could see with the race tune was the Grade Assist and the damn fans kicked on at 180 and ran at highest speed all the time.

That's weird, you would think it would be faster unless the "race" aspect is the fans, grade assist(dunno why?), and maybe some transmission stuff are the difference?

I have datalogged the 4+X and 4+X Race Tunes.... From basic datalogging they look identical from a desired boost and timing perspective....

However... That being said... LMS has access to additional or takes the time to tune some different things into it... Like the boost curve in first gear is very different than the boost curve in the rest of the gears... The curve in first does not have a spike around 4500 RPM like the rest of the gears.. No other tuner does that from what I have seen... Probably helps with keeping wheel spin to a minimum... But even then the race and non race 4+X are very similar from what I can datalog...

Anyway...if you are not getting spark retard from the knock sensor and your OAR is maxed... Then you should be getting full power from the tune... And that is right from the horses mouth at LMS..

May be a stupid question but can you run methanol 50/50 mix and an E20 blend tune? Or would that be adding to much fuel for it to handle?

So to use the race tune, you must have meth injection, correct?

Race tune is the same one all of the Livernois customers get with my strategy code.

I'm using the OBDLINK MX Bluetooth scantool...should be able to find for $79 now compared to the $99 it was 2 years ago. I feel it is the best one for smooth delivery of data, but I'm losing faith on its quality. I'm on my 2nd one and it has begun to act up and not work all the time.

It's taken a LOT of track time and tinkering with setups to get the times so far.

Keep track of temp, tire pressures, and launch rpms to find out your best configuration for achieving your goals.

So you just ask LMS for the race tune and they will load it on your tuner?

If you have the supporting mods...

Exhaust, 3BAR maps, plugs, thermostat, CAI, and Downpipes.

That's what they told me...

Yes I have all of that. What is the exact name of the tune? Should I ask for the same tune as any other particular member has?

I don't have dps but do have stage two meth. Should I wait for dps for an E20 "race tune" from Torrie?
