Dupont Imron Paint Shops

Anyone know of any Automobile Paint and Body Shops in Southern California (92660 zip code - Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Irvine), about 60 miles north of San Diego and 40 miles South of Los Angeles along the coast?

I would be willing to travel to either city or even to a SHO member who has experience applying Imron.

Everyone I talk to (in Southern Cal) says Imron is used very often for boats and bicycle frames but not automobile bodies. headbang

They suggest PPG. shrug

Any ideas?

Imron is used on aircraft frequently also. I think it orginal design was for aircraft. I doubt you will find many auto paint shops willing to paint with it. It pricy also, I would just go with a good PPG paint.

Thanks to all for suggestions. Imron shop is difficult to find and as stated, it is used frequently for airplanes out here in Southern California.

Imron is high performance paint. it is only one of many brands and you should'nt be married to the idea of Dupont imron being the best. Ditzler deltron urethane is comparably better. there are other brands of urethane out there as well. if your planing on spending $700 to $900 for materials It would be wise to do some more research. Most shops will want to talk you into using their product line and thats a good thing because thats what they are experienced in applying. to find one who has experience applying urethane paints you'll have to pay a premium.$$$$
