Dupont Imron Paint Shops

Anyone know of any Automobile Paint and Body Shops in Southern California (92660 area - Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Irvine), about 60 miles north of San Diego and 40 miles South of Los Angeles along the coast. I would be willing to travel to either city.

Everyone I talk (in southern Cal) to says Imron is used very often for boats and bicycle frames but not automobile bodies.

They suggest PPG.

Any ideas?

My 240Z is painted Medium Concord Blue Metallic DuPont Imron paint with two coats of clear over the paint. I loved the color. The car was bright blue in the sun and look almost black at night. When the headlight hit the paint you would be able too see shades of blue from medium to very dark blue. My understanding is that AQMD banned the original two part Imron paint. I have heard rumors that you need to go to Mexico to have the original Imron shot on your car. The stuff was toxic and you had to have special equipment to spray it. My paint job cost me $2000+ in 1979. I first found out about the paint when I was in the Navy. The Navy painted their aircraft with Imron. The paint was the most durable paint for the harsh ship board environment. My personal experience with the paint was a month after my car was painted I found a burned down cigarette resting on my hood. The burn mark was over two inches long. The next day I took some Ivory and the mark just washed off, leaving no mark. I could not believe my eyes.

You might try Santini's Paint and Body Werkes 891-8895 in Westminster. They do alot of custom paint jobs. Maybe they can help

Would you guys have any idea where that 93 Green MTX is that a kid over there got back in Feb. It has a 3.2 w/3.0 cams, and a bunch of other tricks, I think tan interior, just curious? I think his name is Connor?
