Does anyone know about Taurus option "942 Daytime Running Lights (Fleet)" ? Are these additional lights or just a wiring change in the standard lights? Has anyone installed this option in their SHO?

I think that's an option north of the border. That being said, I think they are a bad safety issue. People who have them assume they can be seen in rain/fog, and fail to turn the actual headlights on. Likewise, most DRL's do not turn the tail lights on, so they are really hard to see in the same weather conditions from behind. I've also seen idiots running after dark with nothing but the DRL's. Worst thing the makers ever did, IMO!

Its kinda hard to do that cause the dash lights dont come on. If you are in the dark without any dash lights , you will know your lights are off.

Over here its a law for the automakers to have them , but if you decide to hack them off , you wont get arrested for that. None of my cars have a working DRL.

The DRL function is available on vehicles that are ordered with a Fleet ID Number (FIN). Not sure how that works in the SHO, since we have HIDs. It would be kind of cool to have them illuminate our little LEDs in the bumper....

The DRL feature is commanded by the PCM, and in this case, the SHO (and IIRC all Taurii) have Autolamp, which would turn on the rest of the 'running lights' when the sun sensor saw it appropriate.

Also, keep in mind when its foggy or raining, you will be using the wipers, which will also command the headlights and tail lights to come on.

We in Canada get the DRL option - its mandated. As such, no HID's for us - which sucks! I thought they would use the led stripe along the bottom as a DRL but nope - no HID.

The DRL option is a module added to the lighting system. Most of today's Ford models are already pre-wired for this. You simply add the module.

Not on the 2010. Its commanded via the computer.

So I guess the next question is can we turn on the DRL's in the USA if that is our preference?
