Started a few weeks ago, got this vibration in the steering wheel, while driving at highway speeds. Assumed it was an unbalanced tire, so rotated tires front to rear. Still have it.

I am leaning toward front struts, as this could be a symptom. Ride quality has gone down a bit, so thought that it was time for replacement.

Was just wondering, might there be something else that could be wrong?

How many miles do you have? What year? I think there is a TSB on half shafts. Could be a wheel bearing assembly too.

2013 with 60k

I will get it into dealship, after I get back from vacation, and let them look it over. I need them to look at that fuel module recall, they keep sending me notices on.

Since the rear shocks already had problems, front shocks could as well. May have been a bad batch from factory. No bent wheels right? How are the replacement rear shocks working out?

Link to info about the halfshaft recall: http://www.fordtaurus.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=18276

Houston streets are crappy, and tough on shocks/struts, but dont believe I have a bent rim(s).

That half shaft recall is interesting, as it feels like the vibration is coming from the right side. I will get it into the dealer, and let them sort it out, that way I am not spending money that dont need to be spent.

I will have to put back to stock tune, and hoping for the best.

There is a recall, ID: 14S10, Right- Hand Front Halfshaft Retention Inspection/Repair for 2013 SHO's. I found this on My Ford when I updated my oil change. I printed it out and had the dealer do it a few days later. I would certainly have this checked out ASAP.

Been on vacation, for the past 10 days, but came home to the recall letter, in the mail. Going to take car in tomorrow, or Friday, and get them to check out the car.

Will get them to put in a new windshield, also, as mine looks like a road map

Got the car back from dealership, today.

Half shafts were fine. They said the vibration came from tires needing balancing, and they did an alignment. Did the fuel module recall. Tranny and injector flush. Replaced the windshield.... man these windshields suck, they crack so easy.

Anyway, car runs fine. Now to put the tune back in.

Lightningracer, you mention you are in Houston. So am I. Glad you got your issue fixed. I just bought a '15 non PP. You mentioned you have a tune. Where did you get it done/from?

EDIT: I just read some of your previous posts and found where you have a Livernois tuner. I guess you like it.

I am actually in La Grange, but work in Houston.

Yes, I got the Livernois tune, 93 octane program. Put in colder plugs, and some day I will put in the thermostat. It really woke the car up, but figured it would ... power adder vehicles respond well to tunes, learned that with my '99 Lightning.

OK. You do have a long commute. Do you know the numbers as far as HP for the tune and plugs? Ball park anyway?

Forgot to give update.... balance and rotation that dealer performed did nothing. There is still a major vibration in steering wheel while driving at speed. I replaced all 4 tires this past week, and on the drive home from work, it was smooth as glass. I put some Nittos on.

Next day, driving to work, there is a very slight vibration in steering wheel.

What the **** can be causing this? I dont want to ruin another set of tires.

Most likely cause, since you have new tires, is out-of-round wheel(s) or improperly torqued lugnuts. Did you get a roadforce balancing after the new tires were put on? Hub bearings are a relatively remote possibility, as are rotors.
