1 more question... Since I can't seem to get a clear radio station to transmit on for my xm radio, I tried using the tape adapter. The adapter works well and I can definitely notice an increase in sound/clarity but I only get audio out of the driver's side speakers. If I set the balance all the way to the passenger side, all 4 corners of the car become very quiet but I still cannot notice any negligible amount of volume from the passenger side. Is this a normal operation for the JBL system in the 96?

The thing isnt lining up right... push on the tape, or something... wiggle it around a little... maybe try cleaning them off with some alcohol..

Is that a scientific term? :laugh_ti:

I get what you are saying though. I'll see what I can do tomorrow. I get to drive to Wichita, KS (3 hour drive 1 way) tomorrow and back so I'll have plenty of time to dick around with it.

EDIT: God I feel like I'm in 1995 again. I think in my 20 years of being on this planet, I have used a tape player twice.

Try reversing the tape direction.

Failing that, there may be something in the path of the cassette adapter not allowing it to be inserted fully, causing the one audio channel issue.

Hey Liberty, what might be the issue is the Stero connections (+/- for both right and left channels) are loose. You might want to take the EATC out and check those.

Also, a quick question.. do you get a high pitch sound when using the tape deck? On 3 of the EATC's I've tried they all have a high pitch sound coming from it when playing music. Of course, you can only hear it when not music is playing (like in between songs or whatever).

Can't say I noticed it while using the tape deck but I have noticed it while using my FM transmitter. But that is only when I change xm stations so I think it might be normal.

As for the tape not playing right, I tried cleaning the head with a tape cleaner, I tried switching the tape direction and that also did not work. I did notice that when the tape is being played, I can press the tape player down and the sound will start to cut out. I am guessing that the tape is being pulled in too low and the heads are not lining up?
