So this morning I left my car running once I got to work because I was going to come right back outside with the deposit and go to the back. Since I have the keyless entry pad I go ahead and lock my car. I go inside, come back out and try to unlock it. Nothin....try the remote, nothing. F^#$. Luckily the bank is in the HY-Vee next door. So I get over there make the deposity and come back. I manage to get the spare keys from my house from my fiance's dad. Try to unlock the drivers side.It won't open. I try to unlock all the doors with the keypad and go around to the passenger side. Its unlocked, so I turn the car off and come inside. Thinking it was just frozen shut I try again when I get off work. Still @&^%$@ locked shut. I've tried unlocking it with the key also, and the key moves but it doesn't move the lock inside the car. I felt so ghetto having to get into my car from the passenger side to drive home.

Any ideas or suggestions?

It sounds like the actuator is *****'d. Did the lock make any noise like it was trying to open when you tried to unlock via keypad? I bet the actuators are similar and you could test by swapping the one that works in the passenger door to the driver door to see if that's the problem. Or if the locking mechanicals are stuck the electric actuator wouldn't be able to open it either. shrug

It did make noise like it was trying to open. So I guess it did something....just that that something didn't unlock the door. frown

This happened to my wife when my son was in the car, car running, while she was loading groceries in the trunk!! (My 4yr old was holding the lock button while she was trying to open w/ the keypad.)

A locksmith came, he jimmied the car and popped the hood, turned the car off, unplugged the battery, and everything was reset when he plugged it back in. He said it happens fairly often with these cars.... rant

Hope this info helps.

edit: my wife doesn't remember whether the locks actually made any noise or not once he let go of the button and she tried the keypad. Her problem was electrical related, sounds like yours is mechanical...

Yeah, it was mechanical. I finally tried some needle nose plyers and was able to pull the locked **** up. But now that it us unlocked, it looks like I managed to break the lock cylinder or something on the drivers side. I say this because even though the remote and keypad now unlock the car....turning the key inside the lock does nothing.

SHO NUFF,

Have you tried penetrating oil in the lock cylinder? Spray silicone lubricant or penetrating oil in the lock cylinder (where you put the key in. Then try to work the lock cylinder back and forth.

We use the keyless entry and forget about the cylinder. It gets corroded and will lock up tighter than a nun on Sunday (no pun intended).

If that does not do then you will have to go inside and check all of the rods connected to the door handle, the cylinder and the lock solenoid. rangerj
