lol wish it was that easy. i had it on ramps a little earlier. aside from all the oil.(front 60k needs done) I did not see anything out of ordinary. the only antifreeze i found was around the main pully i believe or the one next to or under the water pump. i may be thinking of near the front main seal. maybe coming from around water pump and leaking down. but where the hose attaches was dry no leak. the overflow tank is good to from what i seen. and the radiater had no leaks either.. Im slightly puzzled. i did find my battery cables were rubbing slightly against the belt. must be where the noise was coming from. I still dont know any thoughts?

I honestly had never looked at what SHOSource offered for water pumps, until this morning. It's a brand new pump, not a rebuilt or remanufactured unit, and a good price. Just the snout will be fine. May as well get the other 60k stuff from SHOSource while you're at it. Good folks, decent pricing, and they help support the forum.

Have you had a chance to pressure test the cooling system? That'll tell you for sure if anything else is leaking.

Probably a good idea to try it out, before ordering things that you may not need. Any history on this car, such as the last time it had a 60k, or other work done to it?

well i bought the car with 140000 on it. it has 150xxx o it now i just did the top 60k. it was in bad shape. oil had filled the spark plug wells. i dont think it had ever been done. still need to do the wires and the coil pack and the front 60k i dont think has ever been done either. i hace a bunch of oil underneath my car that gets all over the cats causing it to smoke im looking in to getting the seals replaced as well as the rest of the 60k. the place i got it from replaced the camshaft sensor i believe. but other than that. and i did the front brakes two back tires. and a few odds and ends here or there. i will tell you its been rough for someone in colledge and working part time.

I can agree, any older vehicle is going to be tough on the budget in your situation.

Perhaps cleaning the engine off really well, and pinpointing the leak will help out, then you can just do what's needed until you have enough to do the full 60k. Are you doing the work yourself? Saves a ton of money that way.

well i figure its going to be best to do all the seals and water pump at the same time. does the timing belt realy need to be done? and yes i will be doing it myself but there is another sho owner i chatt that is on here as well that im hoping is going to help me out. as i am not that great a mechanics. im more of a carpenter.

Remember your top 60K story where you told us you figure the car doesn't have a great service history. Do as much as you can with the money you have now.
The timing belt is not expensive and it is a good time to make sure the car is properly timed and running the best it can.
But to answer your question, no... it is not absolutely mandatory if money is an issue. You could save it for a future time and do the crank position sensor and front seal at the same time. They require the front pulley to come off.
And, by the way, you will be a pretty good mechanic after you have done this.

Not a bad idea, if you can swing it financially. The timing belt has to come off to do the cam seals, and the crank seal/crank position sensor. As sperold mentioned, the timing belt is fairly inexpensive, about $25 or so.

If your belt does look OK though, it's not a big deal to re-use it.
