Drifting a SHO!!!!!

ok... not on purpose. at the autocross this weekend the course was supper loose and fast. i acctually got to top out 2nd. however, my friend made us late to walk the course and i only got to walk it twice. was gonna take it easy my first and second runs, but that's not what happened... second run went something like this...

out of the gate hard and into a tight left. look over at the last sencond and realize i'm about to miss a gate. too lat now so i just go straight past it. way to fast into the first left hand sweeper and i slide WAY out and tackle two cones on the way back in. short slolum goes well and then a long straight that crosses back in front of the start line. then i attempt to enter another slolum WAY TOO FAST. after my second steering input i find myself holding the steering wheel almost to lock slideing right down the middle of the slolum (the coarse workers hate me now.) then the rear swings wide the other way and there i am again drifting hard sideways with the wheel almost at lock trying not to loose it. the good news?? i pullled the car back straight and finished the run. afterward my friend was like. "were you trying to drift???"...

well... my car's set up a little loose so i'm used to it being tail happy. mostly though.. i think my tires just don't want to work anymore. i hear some Azenis' calling my name.

I love fresh tires the wider the better, espicially strictly summer tires, or R compounds

I almost drifted my SHO sideways into a lamp post last meet when it started raining heavily. Thank God for ABS. Whewww!

Gen I's, even with stock suspension, can really be tossed around quite easily for a nose heavy FWD car. That's always impressed me about these cars; a little scandinavian flick and you can point the car pretty much anywhere you want

At our NASA events there's often (well, usually) sessions for the drift guys, which are always entertaining to watch. I spent the first two sessions trying to wear out some old Yokohamas and my assessment was that I probably should have just gone out with the drift guys. It's the first bits in this vid for example:

I have high hopes for this tire. i heard nothing but great experiences from ppl using them.

I am in search of a good wet tire for autocross. It tends to rain a lot over here.

these are better than the old azenis in the wet (or so i've been told.) but doesn't Kumho make a victoracer that is made for wet driving??
